The Alto High School Alumni Association is set to host a School-Wide Reunion and Juneteenth Celebration, bringing together past and present community members for a day of reflection, recognition, and cultural pride.
The event kicks off with a meet and greet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 20, giving attendees a chance to reconnect with classmates and fellow alumni in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. On Saturday evening, the festivities continue with a Banquet Dinner from 6-11 p.m., celebrating shared history and achievements while honoring the Juneteenth holiday.
Entry is free for all paid members of the Alto High School Alumni Association, while non-members and guests can join in for $20 per person, per event.
The event will feature a special keynote address by Dr. Frances Staten, a distinguished alumna who has dedicated her career to education and empowerment.
Dr. Staten, a 1967 graduate of Rhymes High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, before obtaining a doctorate from the University of Kentucky. With a career spanning decades, she served as a professor at Grambling State University from 1986 until her retirement. Her speech will highlight themes of excellence, perseverance, and hope, inspiring attendees with her journey and contributions.
The celebration promises to be a vibrant gathering filled with music, food, cultural exhibits, and special recognitions, honoring both the historical significance of Juneteenth and the collective achievements of Alto alumni. Organizers emphasize the event’s importance in preserving heritage, strengthening bonds, and inspiring future generations.
Community members, alumni, and supporters are encouraged to attend as Alto High School comes together to honor the journey, celebrate the culture, and build the future.
