Delhi track teams excel at state

Delhi High School’s track and field team showcased their exceptional talent at the state championship, leaving a lasting mark with their performances.

The boys’ team secured an impressive fourth-place finish overall, while the girls’ team held their ground at 26th in the state rankings.

Leading the charge, Zion Hogan dominated the shot put event, claiming first place, while Devin Miles proved his speed and agility, earning third place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.20 seconds.

The boys’ relay teams delivered outstanding results, with the 4x200m squad, featuring Terrance Williams, Jimmy Spruill, Devin Miles, Jatavis Hester, and alternate James Boston, taking home the gold with a personal record time of 1:29.10.

The team team finished third in the 4x100m at 43.390 seconds.

The boys’ 4x400m relay team, featuring Williams, Spruill, Tylynn Jones, Jay Wright, and alternates Jayden Lusk and Tyson Ross, placed fourth with a time of 3:33.30.

Meanwhile, Cameron Roberts represented the school well in shot put, finishing in sixth place.

Williams continued to shine individually, securing first place in the 300m hurdles with a personal best of 38.44 seconds.

On the girls’ side, standout athlete Arlescia Howard showcased her versatility, finishing fourth in the 200m dash and sixth in the long jump.

The girls’ relay teams held their own, with the 4x200m squad, Howard, Callie Grimes, Mahogany Cleveland and Maleia Anderson, earning sixth place with a time of 1:50.82.

The 4x100m relay team, including Zaquayla Wilford, Cleveland, Grimes and Howard, finished in seventh place with a time of 51.78 seconds.

Delhi High School’s athletes demonstrated their commitment and competitive spirit, securing several podium finishes and personal bests.
