Saints Alive meeting held

Saints Alive’s January meeting had to be canceled due to severe weather, but the attendance at the Feb. 3 gathering more than made up for it.

It was the largest group in recent memory.

This month’s gathering was opened by our president, Judy Slayter.

Prayer requests were received, and prayer was then offered by Fred Lambert. The birthday honorees for December were also congratulated and first time visitors acknowledged.

As expected, the theme was Valentine’s Day, and the decor reflected that. The menu was potluck with many wonderful dishes to tempt the attendees.

The special event of the evening was a concert by Gene Stewart and his band. Gene has enjoyed a long association with Saints Alive and reminisced about that. He also presented a poem about Saints Alive he had written as a tribute to this ministry. It was read aloud by Beverly Jackson. Beverly then led the participants in a rousing rendition of “When the Saints Go Marching In,” accompanied the Gene and the band.

Next month’s meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 3. The meal will be pulled pork and baked beans. Those who attend are asked to bring salads and desserts.

Saints Alive meets during the months of October through May. Anyone 55 or over is invited to join. There are no dues for this calendar year. The meetings feature delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ministry and the best fellowship ever.

Come for a visit.
