Richland Parish voters will decide the fate of two police jury sales tax renewals Saturday as well as choosing their candidates for this year’s presidential primary.
Both tax propositions are renewals of existing taxes and not new taxes.
The first tax proposition is a 1 percent sales and use tax renewal for 10 years. If passed the tax would continue to bring in an estimated $4,064,989 per year until Dec. 31, 2034. Of the funds collected, 78 percent would be used for constructing, overlaying, improving, repairing and maintaining public roads and bridges, 14 percent for the purchase and maintenance of equipment used for constructing, overlaying, improving, repairing and maintaining public roads and bridges and 8 percent for maintenance of the Courthouse.
