Mangham High School turned in a strong all-around performance Wednesday, finishing second in the team standings at the LHSAA Class 2A District 2 track and field meet, with Rayville and Delhi Charter School also delivering solid results across multiple events.
Mangham scored 115 points to place second behind Ouachita Christian. Rayville finished third with 90 points, while Delhi Charter placed fourth with 48.
The Dragons’ speed dominated the relays, sweeping both the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter events. Mangham’s 4x100 team of Colby Casey, Reginald Roberson, Kenneth Mitchell and Rayon Bell clocked a winning 43.15 seconds, while the same group took the 4x200 in 1:29.45.
Mangham added another dramatic win in the 4x400 relay, edging Ouachita Christian with a 3:25.59 finish in one of the closest races of the night.
Roberson led the Dragons individually with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.20), while Mitchell claimed gold in the 200 meters (22.22).
Rayville showed depth and consistency throughout the meet, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the 4x800 relay (9:09.06) and a third-place showing in the 4x400 relay.
Individually, Braylon Booker placed third in the 400-meter dash (52.88) and added points in the long jump, while Tacoda Johnson cleared 6 feet, 1 inch to win the high jump.
Rayville also stacked points in the distance events, with Sir Jamar Edwards and Jadarrius Natt finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the 800-meter run, and Mahlik Lockhart placing in both the 1600 and 3200.
Delhi Charter made its mark in both the field events and relays. Tayven Carter delivered one of the meet’s top performances, winning the triple jump (48-1) and long jump (22-2.5).
The Griffins also placed second in the 4x200 relay, while Lee Jones added a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash.
In the girls division, Mangham placed third overall with 66 points, followed closely by Rayville in fourth (64) and Delhi Charter in fifth (55).
Rayville’s girls were led by a strong relay showing, including a second-place finish in the 4x200 and runner-up honors in the 4x400. Janyah Thomas also placed third in the 800-meter run.
Mangham’s Kenya McFarland won the 200-meter dash (27.35) and helped lead the Lady Dragons to third-place finishes in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Alexcia Hicks added a win in the triple jump and tied for second in the high jump, while MaryAnn Rogers captured the shot put title.
Delhi Charter’s Paityn Alexander finished second in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the 200, while also placing in the high jump to lead the Lady Griffins.
With multiple athletes qualifying and several relay teams posting competitive times, Mangham, Rayville and Delhi Charter now turn their attention to the regional meet.
