A months-long narcotics investigation culminated April 10 with the arrest of a Richland Parish man following a coordinated operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, according to Richland Parish Sheriff Neal Harwell.
The sheriff’s office, alongside Louisiana State Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Metro Narcotics of Ouachita Parish, executed search and arrest warrants in Richland Parish as part of the investigation. Deputies took Michael Wilhite into custody without incident.
During the operation, authorities seized a large quantity of illegal narcotics and related items, including methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana, assorted pills, ammunition and U.S. currency.
Wilhite was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center on multiple charges, including three counts of distribution of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine); possession with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled dangerous substances, including methamphetamine, crack cocaine and OxyContin; possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance (marijuana); cruelty to a juvenile; money proceeds involving controlled dangerous substance transactions; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“This case reflects the continued partnership between local, state and federal agencies working together to keep our community safe,” Harwell said.
