Beekman pulls away from Delhi Charter

Delhi Charter kept things within reach early, but a big inning by Beekman Charter proved the difference in an 11-1 loss on April 9.

The Gators managed three hits in the contest and showed patience at the plate, drawing a pair of walks and working counts throughout the game.

Brandon Velazquez led Delhi Charter offensively, going 1-for-1 with a walk and the team’s only run scored. Peyton Fuller finished 1-for-2, while Kade Brown added a hit to round out the Gators’ three-hit effort.

Delhi Charter also showed aggressiveness on the bases. Brown and Velazquez each recorded stolen bases, and Fuller added another, accounting for all three of the Gators’ steals.

On the mound, Fuller got the start, working one inning and allowing three runs on three hits.

Brown followed in relief, pitching 3.2 innings and striking out five while working through a heavy Beekman lineup that collected 10 hits.

Beekman broke the game open with a fiverun fifth inning, turning a competitive matchup into a run-rule decision. Delhi Charter committed one error defensively.

Despite the result, the Gators continued to battle at the plate and on the bases, showing flashes of discipline and effort as they look to build consistency moving forward.
