Dragons split busy week with bounce-back

Mangham navigated a demanding stretch of games, showing resilience with a shutout win and a dominant district victory while remaining competitive in two close losses.

The week opened with a 4-2 loss to Sterlington on April 6, as the Dragons stayed within striking distance before a four-run sixth inning swung the game.

Mangham finished with eight hits in the contest. Colby Casey went 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Reggie Roberson led the offense, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs to account for both runs.

Cade Poland added a 1-for-2 effort with a walk, Nolan Gandy recorded a hit, and Brody Hutson contributed a hit and a run scored. Carson Mooney also added a hit as the Dragons spread production throughout the lineup.

Mooney and Roberson each recorded doubles, and Roberson added a stolen base.

On the mound, Mooney worked 6.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out 10. Casey recorded the final two outs in relief. Mangham committed two errors defensively.

The Dragons responded quickly, earning a 5-0 shutout victory over Claiborne Christian on April 7.

Mangham collected nine hits and broke the game open with a four-run third inning.

Roberson again led the offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Poland added a strong performance, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Mooney went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Evan Barton contributed two hits and a run scored. Hutson added a hit and a run, and Casey also scored.

Blake Pierce, Gandy and Lane Wiggins each added at-bats as the Dragons continued to produce throughout the lineup. Poland and Roberson both recorded doubles.

Barton delivered a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits over seven innings while striking out six and walking four. Mangham committed no errors defensively.

Mangham continued its strong play with a 10-0 victory over Oak Grove on April 9.

The Dragons closed the week with a 3-1 loss to Ouachita Christian on April 10 in a tightly contested matchup.

Mangham was limited to two hits, with Roberson going 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Mooney added the other hit, finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI.

The Dragons drew two walks but struggled to string together offense.

Mooney pitched all six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three. Mangham committed three errors in the game.

Despite the losses, the Dragons remained competitive throughout the week, while their shutout win over Claiborne Christian and dominant performance against Oak Grove highlighted the team’s ability to respond and produce on both sides of the ball.
