Area teams turned in a number of strong performances Friday at the Franklin Parish Relays, with athletes from Delhi, Delhi Charter and Rayville competing across a full slate of events.
Delhi Charter
Delhi Charter was led by several strong individual and relay performances, highlighted by a first-place finish from Aaliyah Fortenberry in the girls shot put with a throw of 35-06.00.
On the track, Natalie Clark placed third in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.59, while Paityn Alexander added a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash at 1:08.75.
The Lady Gators also turned in solid relay performances, finishing fifth in the 4x200-meter relay (1:57.87), seventh in the 4x100-meter relay (55.81) and fifth in the 4x400-meter relay (5:29.79).
In field events, Naomi Clark placed fourth in the triple jump (28-01.00), while Lampley and Washington added fourthand sixth-place finishes in the discus.
For the boys, Delhi Charter’s Tayven Carter delivered one of the top performances of the meet, winning both the long jump (23-05.00) and triple jump (48-05.00). Marquis Jones added a first-place finish in the shot put (44-05.00).
Lee Jones placed second in the 400-meter dash (54.67), and the 4x200-meter relay team finished fifth (1:33.77).
Rayville
Rayville turned in a strong overall showing, finishing fifth in the girls team standings and third in the boys standings.
On the girls side, Makayla Johnson placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.63) and fourth in the long jump (15-05.00), while Kadaria Anderson added a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:11.33).
Rayville’s relay teams were competitive throughout the meet, finishing tied for sixth in the 4x200-meter relay (2:01.83), sixth in the 4x100-meter relay (55.09) and second in the 4x400-meter relay (4:43.14). The 4x800-meter relay team also competed.
In distance events, Gulaycia Barker placed third in the 800-meter run (2:59.79), with teammate Janyah Thomas finishing fourth (3:01.77). Barker also added a fourth-place finish in the javelin (83-02.00).
For the boys, Deleyoun Johnson led the way with a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (16.78) and a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (45.63). He also helped lead Rayville to third-place finishes in both the 4x200-meter relay (1:33.31) and 4x100-meter relay (43.86).
Rayville’s 4x800-meter relay team placed second (9:22.57), while Tacoda Johnson added a second-place finish in the long jump (20-01.00) and triple jump (44-01.00), along with a second-place finish in the high jump (6-00.00).
Delhi
Delhi athletes competed across multiple events, gaining valuable experience against a competitive field.
On the girls’ side, Tyreonna Young competed in the 100-meter hurdles, while Imari Clark and Za’Quala Wilford ran in the 100-meter dash. Delhi also fielded relay teams in both the 4x200-meter and 4x100-meter relays.
In the field events, athletes competed in the long jump, shot put and discus, with multiple entries gaining experience against larger programs.
For the boys, Delhi fielded relay teams in the 4x200-meter and 4x100-meter events, along with entries in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
The Lions also competed in several field events, including long jump, shot put, discus and javelin.
