Running under the campaign theme “Proven Leadership. Trusted Results,” Robinson said his experience and commitment to public safety make him well-suited to serve the town once again.
A lifelong resident of Richland Parish, Robinson is the husband of Bessie Griffin-Robinson, the father of four children and grandfather of 16. He also serves as a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Robinson brings 42 years of law enforcement experience to the race, including 18 years with the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office and 24 years as Rayville chief of police.
During his years in law enforcement, Robinson said he worked to improve police response times, combat illegal activity, strengthen cooperation between law enforcement and the community, and help promote safety and quality of life in Rayville. He also pointed to maintaining 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week operation of the Rayville Police Department as one of his priorities.
Robinson has also remained active in law enforcement training and professional development. His continuing education has included coursework in computer crimes and child exploitation prevention, use of force, homeland security preparedness, gang identification, missing child investigations, officer-involved shootings, legal updates for law enforcement, police supervision and leadership, domestic violence investigations, community policing, legal ethics, counter-drug intelligence, internal affairs, hiring and termination procedures, sobriety checkpoints, and racial profiling awareness.
He also said he has been a committed supporter of TRIAD and active in various law enforcement organizations.
“God blessed me with an education,” Robinson said in his campaign announcement.
In announcing his candidacy, Robinson said he believes his background, leadership and concern for the welfare of the community make him the right choice for the office.
