Delhi Charter turned in a strong week on the softball diamond, collecting two wins in as many games and piling up runs in victories over Tornado Softball and Bastrop.
The Lady Gators opened the week March 31 with a 16-10 win over Tornado Softball, then followed it up April 2 with an 11-0 shutout of Bastrop to finish the stretch 2-0.
Delhi Charter’s offense was on full display in the March 31 win, as the Lady Gators racked up 20 hits and scored in every inning except the sixth.
Marlee Bonner led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Olivia Clark added a big performance, finishing 2-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored, while Shakayla Montgomery went 2-for-5 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Jasey Calhoun turned in one of the top allaround efforts for Delhi Charter, going 4-for-4 with a double, four runs scored and an RBI. Alli Henson added a 2-for-5 day with two RBIs and a run scored, and Destiny Griffin finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Lady Gators also got strong contributions from K’Miya Fletcher, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Kaylee Osborn, who added a hit and a run scored, and Dani Mize, who finished with a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.
Alli Henson pitched a complete game for Delhi Charter, working all seven innings to earn the win as the Lady Gators finished with 14 RBIs.
Delhi Charter kept the momentum rolling April 2 with an 11-0 win over Bastrop, ending the game in five innings behind another explosive offensive performance and a dominant showing in the circle.
The Lady Gators finished with 15 hits in the win and broke the game open with five runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth.
At the plate, K’Miya Fletcher delivered a standout game, going 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Destiny Griffin also drove in three runs while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Shakayla Montgomery continued her strong week, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored. Kaylee Osborn added a 2-for-3 performance with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, while Marlee Bonner went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Olivia Clark contributed a hit, an RBI and a run scored, and Alli Henson added two hits and two RBIs. Taylor Mitchell chipped in a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Jasey Calhoun drew two walks and scored twice for the Lady Gators.
In the circle, Alli Henson threw a fiveinning complete-game shutout, allowing four hits while striking out 10.
Over the two-game stretch, Delhi Charter’s offense consistently applied pressure, while the Lady Gators got strong pitching from Henson to cap a perfect week.
