Rayville track teams deliver at Wildcat Relays

The Rayville High School boys track team delivered a determined and competitive performance at the Wossman Wildcats Relays, finishing fifth overall with 59 points in a strong field.

Competing against top programs such as Ouachita Parish and Wossman, Rayville athletes showed resilience, depth and promise across multiple events.

Leading the charge in the field events, Tacoda Johnson soared to a firstplace finish in the high jump, giving Rayville a major boost in the standings. Johnson also added a third-place finish in the triple jump, making him one of the team’s top point scorers of the day.

On the track, Rayville’s relay teams played a key role in the team’s success. The 4x800-meter relay team secured a second-place finish as Jamar Edwards Sr., Ja’Tavion Collins, Jadarius Natt and Tacoda Johnson combined for a strong distance effort. The 4x400-meter team also claimed second place, powered by Jadarius Natt, Braeden Travis, Ja’Tavion Collins and Braylon Booker, showcasing endurance and teamwork in one of the meet’s most demanding races.

In the sprint relays, Rayville continued to compete at a high level. The 4x100-meter relay team earned a third-place finish, while the 4x200meter relay team placed fourth, with Malik Potts, Braeden Travis, Deleyoun Johnson and Braylon Booker contributing to the effort.

Individually, Malik Potts finished fourth in the 200-meter dash, while Deleyoun Johnson added another fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, rounding out a solid day of performances and highlighting the team’s depth across multiple events.

Rayville’s balanced showing across field events, relays and individual races highlights a team that continues to build momentum as the season progresses.

“We’re proud of the effort and the way these young men competed today,” Coach Williams said. “They showed heart, discipline and the kind of teamwork we’re building this program around. This is just the beginning.”

With a strong mix of experienced leaders and emerging talent, the Hornets are gaining momentum and confidence as the season unfolds, proving they are a team to watch in the weeks ahead.

The girls track team is also off to a strong start. Individually, Laila Robinson placed third in shot put. The 4x200meter relay team earned a second-place finish, with Kadaria Anderson, A’niyah Pelle, Nariah Reynolds and D’niyah Robinson contributing to the effort.

In the 4x400-meter relay, A’niyah Pelle, Nariah Reynolds, Janyah Thomas and D’niyah Robinson secured another second-place finish.
