Mangham put together an impressive stretch of softball last week, winning three of four games while showing balance at the plate, strength in the circle and production throughout the lineup.
The Lady Dragons opened with a 16-0 win over Franklin Parish on March 23, scoring in every inning and piling up 13 hits in just three innings.
Kennedy McMurray led the way in that one, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Hutson added another strong all-around outing, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Hardie earned the win in the circle with a one-hit shutout over three innings, striking out three, and also went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Ella Dickens went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Micaela Turner added two hits and two runs scored, and Shelbie Pruitt finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Ava Glass drove in a run, Hannah Williamson added a hit and an RBI, Ellie Barton scored once, and Williamson also recorded a stolen base.
Mangham kept rolling March 26 with a 17-5 district win over Delhi Charter, pounding out 24 hits in one of its biggest offensive showings of the season.
Turner led the attack, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Ella Dickens also had a huge game, finishing 4-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Kennedy McMurray went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Abbigail Hardie and Shelbie Pruitt each added three hits for Mangham. Hardie finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Pruitt went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Marra Beth Hutson helped her own cause with two hits, including a home run, while driving in two runs. A. Glass added two hits and two RBIs, and Madeline Wiggins and E. Barton chipped in with hits and run production as Mangham scored in five of its six innings.
Hutson earned the win in the circle against Delhi Charter, striking out seven over six innings.
The Lady Dragons followed that with another strong offensive effort in a 10-4 win over Caddo Magnet on March 27.
Hutson once again led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Turner stayed hot, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Pruitt added two hits and two RBIs, while Hardie went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Ella Dickens contributed a hit and a run scored, and Ellie Barton went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Ava Glass also drove in a run.
Hardie went the distance in the circle to earn the win, striking out seven while allowing four runs on nine hits over seven innings.
Mangham’s week ended with a 5-0 loss to Stanley on March 28, but even in defeat the Lady Dragons continued to get contributions at the plate.
Shelbie Pruitt led Mangham in the finale, going 2-for-3. Hardie, Glass and Wiggins each added hits. Pruitt, Hardie, Glass and Wiggins all recorded extra-base hits, while Glass also reached after being hit by a pitch.
Hardie pitched all six innings against Stanley and struck out three.
Over the five-game stretch, several Lady Dragons turned in standout performances. Hutson was dominant both in the circle and at the plate, while Hardie also delivered as both a pitcher and hitter.
Turner, Pruitt, Dickens, McMurray and Glass all produced multiple big offensive games, and Wiggins, Williamson, Barton and Thomas also contributed in key moments.
Mangham’s 3-1 stretch highlighted the Lady Dragons’ ability to win with pitching, speed and timely hitting as they continue deeper into the season.
