Choice
Applications must be submitted by the close of business on June 11, and no late applications will be considered. Open enrollment transfers will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Under school board policy, students in grades K-8 who wish to attend a school outside their zone of residence may apply for a transfer to another grade-appropriate school, provided capacity is available at the receiving school and the application is submitted by the established deadline.
Transfer applications will not be accepted after a student’s spring semester of seventh grade.
Parents or guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from schools in the receiving zone.
Once a transfer is approved, the receiving school becomes the student’s home school for all purposes, and the student will remain enrolled there unless a transfer back to the zone of residence is approved for a subsequent school year.
Requests to return to the original zone must also meet established deadlines.
Students newly enrolled in a school will be eligible to apply for a transfer for the following school year.
All transfer students remain subject to the rules and regulations of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. Transfers must also com ply with any placement or service requirements outlined in a student’s Individualized Education Plan or Section 504 Plan.
School officials said additional information, including a video explaining the transfer process, is available on the district’s website.
