The Rayville Varsity Hornets broke things open early and never looked back on March 17, rolling to a 14-1 win over Arcadia in dominant fashion.
After a quiet first inning, Rayville erupted in the second, plating eight runs to seize control of the game.
The Hornets added four more in the third and another in the fourth to put the contest out of reach.
Rayville finished with 14 runs on three hits, taking advantage of six walks and aggressive baserunning to keep pressure on Arcadia throughout the night.
Thai Coward led the Hornets at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a walk. Dakota Broussard, Avery Verbois and Terriun Logan each added a hit, while David Ellezey and Angus Digiovanni drove in runs to support the offense.
On the basepaths, Rayville was relentless. Broussard swiped four bases, while Digiovanni added three steals. Logan stole two, and Ellezey, Jayden Brown, Kelvin and Coward each contributed a stolen base as the Hornets consistently disrupted Arcadia’s defense.
Broussard also set the tone on the mound, earning the win with a strong outing. He allowed just one run on no hits over four innings while striking out eight and walking none.
Defensively, Rayville was solid behind him, committing only two errors while maintaining control of the game from start to finish.
With the win, the Hornets continue to build momentum as they head deeper into the season.
