Area schools delivered strong performances across both track and field events at the Mangham High School Track Meet on March 19, with Mangham finishing third overall, Delhi Charter placing fourth and Delhi High School securing fifth in Division I girls competition.
Mangham led the local contingent with 90 points, followed by Delhi Charter with 69 and Delhi High with 58 in a competitive field.
The host Lady Dragons were powered by standout performances in both relays and field events. Mangham’s 4x100-meter relay team of Alexcia Hicks, Kierra Keys, Skylyn Lawson and Kenya McFarland captured first place with a time of 53.03, while the same group placed second in the 4x200-meter relay.
Hicks also delivered a dominant performance in the field, winning the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 8 inches. Lawson added a firstplace finish in the long jump at 15-10.
In other events, Keys placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 58.56, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Louise Bell, Hicks, McFarland and Zykoria Smith finished second. Bell also placed third in the 400-meter dash.
Mangham continued to add points in field events, with Gabrianna Ranson placing third in both the shot put (29-2 1/2) and discus (73-1). Kaylynn Natt placed fourth in the discus (64-11) and third in the javelin (73-5), while Brodyera Hicks finished second in the javelin (84-9).
Delhi Charter turned in a strong all-around performance, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes in field events. Aaliyah Fortenberry won the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 10 1/2 inches, while Angel Lampley captured first in the discus at 83-6. Mackensie Washington added a second- place finish in the discus with a mark of 73-1.
On the track, Paityn Alexander placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.28 and helped lead the 4x200-meter relay team of Addison Cleveland, Neveah Longino and Dondria Polly to a thirdplace finish.
Natalie Clark placed fourth in both the 100meter hurdles (19.84) and 300-meter hurdles (1:02.57), while Naomi Clark added a fourthplace finish in the 800-meter run (3:05.75) and also placed fourth in the triple jump.
Delhi Charter’s 4x100-meter relay team of Cleveland, Jada Johnson, Ka’leyah Jones and Longino placed fifth. Ajaylah Williams finished fifth in the javelin (64-5), Dondria Polly placed sixth in the long jump, and Samyah Guice added a sixth-place finish in the shot put. Alexander also placed fourth in the high jump.
Delhi High School was led by Taylor Cleveland, who captured first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.12 and also placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Lady Bears posted a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, with Savannah Beals, Cleveland, Chadsity Jones and Xicheala Polly finishing in 5:08.37. Delhi also placed fourth in both the 4x200-meter and 4x100-meter relays.
In individual events, Aeris Davis placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, while Zy’Keiriya Jordan finished fifth. In the 800-meter run, Jones placed fifth and La’Donna Carter finished sixth.
In the field events, La’Kendra Fletcher earned a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 11 inches, while Arelia Blanson placed fifth. Beals added a third-place finish in the triple jump, Mahogony Cleveland placed fifth, and Ariel Young finished fifth in the high jump.
