Rayville boys claim first at Patrick Taylor Relays

The Rayville High School boys track and field team delivered an outstanding performance at the Patrick Taylor (Carroll) Relays on March 13, capturing first place overall with a team total of 119 points.

Rayville outpaced a competitive field, finishing ahead of Caldwell Parish with 88 points and Wossman with 76 to secure the team title.

Leading the way for Rayville was standout athlete Tacoda Johnson, who claimed first place in both the high jump and triple jump while also adding a third-place finish in the long jump. Johnson’s dominance in the field events proved crucial in the team’s victory.

Braylon Booker also turned in a strong performance, capturing first place in the long jump and contributing to multiple relay teams that earned podium finishes.

Rayville’s relay teams played a major role in the championship effort. The 4x400-meter relay team of Ja’Tavion Collins, Braylon Booker, Jadarrius Natt and Braden Travis secured a firstplace finish, while the 4x800-meter relay team of Collins, Natt, Johnson and Sir Jamar earned second place.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Braylon Booker, Malik Potts, Braden Travis and Deleyoun Johnson added another second-place finish.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Deleyoun Johnson, Braden Travis, Malik Potts and Braylon Booker contributed with a third-place finish.

Individually, Deleyoun Johnson placed third in both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. In distance events, Malik Lockhart finished third in the 1,600-meter run, while Mason Bryant added a third-place finish in the 3,200-meter run.

Rayville’s depth across events and strong relay performances were key factors in compiling the meet-winning 119 points. The team’s balanced scoring effort highlights its strength as the season continues.
