Mangham Junior High turned in a commanding performance on its home track March 17, with the Dragons claiming the boys team title while athletes from Mangham, Rayville, Delhi and Delhi Charter all posted notable results across the meet.
Mangham’s boys led the way, winning the team championship with 136 points behind a balanced effort in sprints, distance events, relays and field events.
The Dragons swept the relay events, taking first in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 team of Malik Paige, Trenton Gix, Tristan Jenkins and Austin Thomas posted a winning time of 47.71, while the same core group helped Mangham secure victories in the 4x200 (1:39.65) and 4x400 (3:55.10).
Individually, Mangham saw strong performances across the board. Charles Williams won the 400 meters in 1:00.02, with teammate Aiden Marsh close behind in third. Aaron Wallace added a second-place finish in the 200 meters, while also placing sixth in the 100.
In distance events, David Wiggers placed second in the 1600 meters and fourth in the 800, while Elijah Kennedy earned third in the 800.
Mangham also dominated the field events. Michael Arroyo captured first in the shot put and javelin, while Logan Dean finished second in shot put and won the discus. The Dragons placed two athletes in the top four of the discus and javelin, showcasing their strength in the throwing events.
Rayville athletes also made their mark, with Jadarius Murphy finishing second in the 300-meter hurdles and Javin Gee placing second in the 800 meters. Rayville’s 4x400 relay team finished fifth, while its 4x100 squad placed fifth as well.
Delhi Middle School turned in several strong performances, highlighted by Elijah Blanson’s fourth-place finish in the 100 meters and a sixth-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles. Delhi’s 4x100 relay team placed third, and Kelvin Wilson added a top-six finish in the 200 meters.
Delhi Charter saw contributions in both track and field events, with its 4x200 relay team placing sixth and its 4x100 team finishing sixth as well. Larry Morrison led the Charter effort individually with a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters, while Kenyon Gathrite placed sixth in the long jump.
In the girls division, Mangham placed sixth overall with 31 points, highlighted by strong relay and distance performances.
The Lady Dragons’ 4x200 relay team finished second, while the 4x100 team placed fourth. Amelia Brunson delivered a standout effort in the distance events, placing second in the 1600 meters and sixth in the 800.
Mariah Holland added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters, and Xyla Clemons tied for fourth in the high jump.
Rayville’s girls team placed third overall, with Zyrhia Robinson winning the 400 meters and also claiming first in the high jump. Rayville added a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay and a runner-up showing in the 4x400.
Delhi Charter’s girls tied for fourth in the team standings, highlighted by Aaliyah Fortenberry’s first-place finish in the shot put. Alayah McDowell added a fourthplace finish in the long jump, while the Lady Gators’ 4x200 relay team placed fifth.
Delhi Middle School saw Undrea Moss finish sixth in the 100 meters, while its relay teams posted mid-pack finishes.
Across both divisions, Mangham’s depth and dominance in the relays and field events set the tone, while area schools continued to show growth and competitiveness across multiple events.
