Members of the Mangham High School FFA Chapter delivered a strong showing at the Area I Career Development Events held March 13 at Louisiana Tech University, with multiple teams earning top finishes and advancing to state competition.
A total of 29 Mangham FFA members participated in the event, competing across several categories and bringing home two first-place team finishes.
Mangham’s Veterinary Science team claimed first place, led by Ben Wilcher, who was named Overall High Individual. Team members also included Mark Vigil, Josie Mullins and Zoey Sanders.
The Meat Evaluation team also earned a firstplace finish, with Grant Middleton taking Overall High Individual honors. Team members included Roman Wilson, Gabe Hutson and Ashton Bolton.
Mangham also secured a third-place finish in Meat Evaluation with team members Addie Barmore, Kayleigh Johnson, Zac White and Tyee Wheeler.
In Poultry Evaluation, Mangham placed third with Chris Thomas, Caitlynn Bennett, Avery Lippen and Ava Brakefield representing the team.
The Veterinary Science team also earned a fourthplace finish with Julia Cox, Laney Calhoun, Gracie Gable and Josie Thornton.
Mangham was also represented in welding by Hunter Crawford and Seth Gable.
Alternates competing included Cohen Woodruff, Audrey Middleton, Jodee Mannibussan, Noah Trujillo and Jessa Thornton in Veterinary Science, along with Dezirae Reynolds and CorraBeth Brazell in Poultry Evaluation.
All teams finishing in the top four will advance to compete at the State Career Development Events in Baton Rouge in the coming weeks.
