Students at Mangham Elementary School took part in Career Day on March 4 as part of Read Across America Week, with several young participants dressing up as future law enforcement officers. The students posed for a photo with Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Haylee Franks, who serves on campus. Events like Career Day give deputies an opportunity to build positive relationships with students while encouraging them to think about future careers. Sheriff’s officials said moments like this highlight the importance of connecting with young people and inspiring the next generation of community leaders — and possibly even future deputies.
