The second annual Richland Parish Track Meet featured strong performances from student-athletes representing Mangham High School, Delhi High School and Delhi Charter School. The meet highlighted the athletic ability of both boys and girls teams while also displaying great sportsmanship and competitive rivalry among the parish schools.
At the conclusion of the meet, the Mangham Dragons were crowned the Boys Overall Richland Parish Champions, while the Delhi Charter Lady Gators claimed the Girls Overall Parish Championship. Both Delhi Bears boys and girls track teams finished as the Richland Parish runners-up.
In the boys division, Mangham High School’s Jamerion Tillman won the 100 meters with a time of 11.74, while Delhi High School’s Jatavius Hester captured the 200 meters in 22.61. Mangham’s Rodrick Porter had an outstanding day in the distance events, winning the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters races.
Delhi High School’s Devin Miles won the 110-meter hurdles, and Terrance Williams took the 300-meter hurdles. Mangham High School dominated the relay races, winning the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
In field events, Delhi Charter’s Tayven Carter won both the long jump and triple jump, while teammate Jaevon Davis captured the high jump title.
Delhi High School’s Zion Hogan won both the discus and shot put, and Delhi Charter’s Caden Kennedy won the javelin.
In the girls division, Delhi High School’s Zaquala Wilford won the 100 meters, while Delhi Charter’s Paityn Alexander took first in the 200 meters and high jump. Mangham’s Louise Bell won the 400 meters, while Delhi Charter’s Naomi Clark won the 800 meters. Delhi High School’s LaDonna Carter captured the 1,600 meters title.
Natalie Clark of Delhi Charter won the 100-meter hurdles, while Delhi High School’s Taylor Cleveland won the 300-meter hurdles. Delhi High School won the girls 4x100 and 4x400 relays, while Mangham High School won the 4x200 relay.
Field event winners included Skylyn Lawson and Alexcia Hicks of Mangham High School in the long jump and triple jump, while Delhi Charter’s Angel Lampley and Aaliyah Fortenberry won the discus and shot put. Mangham’s Brodyera Hicks captured the javelin title.
The meet showcased the continued growth of track and field in Richland Parish, with athletes from all three schools competing with determination, pride and outstanding sportsmanship.
