Delhi dominates 2-1A: Lady Bears claim MVP, Coach of the Year

Delhi High School’s girls basketball program dominated District 2-1A this season, finishing with a 10-0 district record to claim the district championship.

Lady Bears head coach Emily Anderson was named District Coach of the Year, while senior standout Dazzilin Young earned District Most Valuable Player honors.

Delhi also placed several players on the All-District teams.

Savannah Beals, a junior, was named to the Girls First Team All-District 2-1A.

On the Girls Second Team All-District, Delhi was represented by Chadsity Jones, a sophomore, and Aumeria Morrison, a junior.

Additional Lady Bears receiving recognition included A’Yunna Thomas, a senior, and Xichaela Polly, a junior, who were both selected as Girls Honorable Mention All-District.

The Delhi boys team also had multiple players honored for their performances during the season.

Senior Jayden Lusk was selected to the Boys First Team All-District 2-1A, recognizing him as one of the district’s top players.

Delhi also had two players earn Boys Honorable Mention All-District honors: Jatavis Hester, a senior, and Ka’marrio Banks, a sophomore.

The postseason selections highlight a strong year for Delhi basketball, led by the Lady Bears’ unbeaten district run and several standout individual performances on both the girls and boys teams.
