Rayville Elementary School recently hosted its annual RES Sweetheart Gala with a Twist, giving students and parents a Valentine’s evening filled with fun, laughter and learning.
This year’s event blended celebration with academics, offering families hands-on literacy activities focused on letter recognition, decoding and reading fluency. Students participated in DIBELS games and completed exit tickets before heading home, while parents had the opportunity to see explicit modeling of foundational reading skills and how those strategies support reading proficiency.
In addition to the academic focus, the evening featured dancing, food and festive décor that created a welcoming atmosphere for families of RES students.
Rayville Elementary officials expressed appreciation to the school’s PTO Committee for organizing the event. The school also thanked Simply Amazing for providing desserts, Katlynn’s Kreative Kreations for decorations, Brandon “Big B” Williams for music and entertainment, and the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office for providing food.
Special recognition was given to sponsors Southern Smiles, Myrt Hales Law Firm and Lvlvsh for their continued support of students and families.
School officials described the evening as a celebration of love, learning and community.
