The Richland Parish School Board will continue offering School Choice and Open Enrollment transfer options for the upcoming school year, according to information released Feb. 10.
Students enrolled in schools that received a letter grade of D or F are eligible to apply for a School Choice transfer. Applications must be submitted online between Feb. 11 and March 20.
The School Board will also accept Open Enrollment transfer applications from March 30 through May 1. No applications will be accepted after the close of business May 1.
Under School Board policy, student transfers are available for grades K-8 only. Transfer applications will not be accepted or processed after the spring semester of seventh grade.
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from schools within the receiving zone. Applications must be received by the deadline set by the superintendent, and transfers are subject to available capacity at the receiving school.
Students granted a transfer will attend the receiving school as their home school for all purposes and must remain enrolled in the gradeappropriate school in that zone unless a transfer back to their zone of residence is approved.
Transfers back to the zone of residence will not be available until the following school year and must meet application deadlines.
Newly enrolled students may apply for a transfer for the subsequent school year. Students granted a transfer remain subject to Louisiana High School Athletic Association rules and must comply with any requirements outlined in an Individualized Education Plan or Section 504 Plan.
Open Enrollment transfers will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
