• American Legion Post 122 will meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 at Rhymes Library, 815 Louisa St., Rayville.

• LifeShare will host a Mardi Grasthemed blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at Rayville Family Clinic on S. Julia Street in Rayville. The event is part of LifeShare’s Krewe of Life campaign, encouraging blood donations during the Mardi Gras season to help meet ongoing hospital needs.

• The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a free three-day Hunter Education Safety Course at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 to 25 at Holly Ridge School, located at 2306 Highway 183, Rayville. The course will cover firearm, hunting safety, wildlife management principles, ethics, game identification, and outdoor survival. Firearms and ammunition will be provided for attendees. Students must be at least 10 years old or older and attend all three nights of class to receive credit. Report cards will be given to parents at the conference. Check with your child’s school for the specific time.

• Riverfield Academy will host a Mardi Gras Mom & Son Dance from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Riverfield Academy new gym. The event is open to pre-K 3 through fifthgrade students. Cost is $20 per couple and $5 per additional son. A photo at the dance will be available for $5. Proceeds benefit RA Day.

• Poverty Point World Heritage Site will host a Night Hike at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the site in Pioneer. The two-mile guided hike will explore the natural and cultural landscape of the Indigenous people who lived at Poverty Point more than 3,000 years ago and will conclude with a bonfire and storytelling from Eastern Woodlands tribal traditions. Participation is limited to 50 people and advance registration is required by calling 318-926-5492 or emailing povertypointwhs_mgr@crt. la.gov

• Riverfield Day will be held March 6 at Riverfield School. Activities will include a carnival from 3:30 to 5 p.m., a silent auction, student art and raffles beginning at 4:30 p.m., and a live auction at 6 p.m. Fried fish or chicken strip plates will be available for purchase.

• The Rayville Fire Department is seeking volunteers, emphasizing the critical need for community members to join their ranks. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a background check and drug screening. Those interested in serving can contact the Rayville Fire Department at 318-728-7515 or visit their headquarters at 902 Harrison Street.
