Members of the DCS FFA chapter delivered a strong showing at the Northeast Louisiana District Livestock Show this past weekend, earning multiple top finishes across dairy cattle, rabbits and poultry competitions.
Several students competed in senior and intermediate showmanship divisions, with numerous first-place finishes and championship honors highlighting the chapter’s performance.
Zachary Bailey led the group with an impressive run in senior showmanship and dairy competition. Bailey was named Grand Champion Senior Showmanship and earned first place in both the 5-year-old and 3-yearold Brown Swiss classes. He also captured Grand Champion Brown Swiss, Grand Champion Brown Swiss Louisiana Bred, Reserve Grand Champion Brown Swiss, and placed second in Dairy Best Fitted.
Maddie Wilkins placed sixth in Senior Showmanship and earned Best of Breed honors with a Flemish Giant rabbit.
She also finished fourth in the Dutch Junior Buck class.
Kaydence Daniels placed seventh in Senior Showmanship and earned first place with a Dutch Junior Doe.
Julie Vandenkooy finished 11th in Senior Showmanship and took first place with a Californian Senior Doe.
In intermediate showmanship, Jayda Middleton placed seventh and earned first place with a Cinnamon Junior Buck. Middleton also placed sixth with a Mini Lop Senior Buck.
Niko McClure placed eighth in Intermediate Showmanship and finished second with a Holland Lop Junior Buck.
Benton Welch earned first place in the Feather-Legged Silkie Non-Bearded poultry class and placed fourth with a Holland Lop Junior Doe.
Logan Spruill rounded out the results with a thirdplace finish in the Holland Lop Junior Doe class.
Advisors praised the students for their preparation, sportsmanship and dedication, noting that the results reflect the hard work put in both at home and through the Future Farmers of America program.
