LaSalle Community Action Association is continuing its mission of “People Helping People” by expanding awareness of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, a federal initiative that helps childcare centers, adult day programs, and family day care homes provide nutritious meals and snacks to the people they serve.
LaSalle CAA emphasizes the importance of the program with its message, “Nourishing Our Community, One Meal at a Time,” underscoring how CACFP helps improve access to healthy meals for children and adults across the region.
Through CACFP, participating care programs receive meal reimbursement based on each participant’s eligibility category – free, reduced‑price, or paid. This support helps centers offset food costs while ensuring that meals meet federal nutrition standards. For many small or rural care providers, the reimbursement structure makes it possible to offer balanced meals that might otherwise be financially out of reach.
LaSalle CAA administers a wide range of community programs across multiple parishes, including Tensas, Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, LaSalle, and others. Their services focus on reducing poverty, supporting families, and improving quality of life through initiatives such as Head Start, energy assistance, weatherization, emergency food support, and housing programs. CACFP is one more way the agency strengthens local communities by promoting health and stability.
The organization encourages any eligible childcare center, adult care program, or family day care home to reach out for more information about enrolling in CACFP or learning how the program can benefit their participants.
