A coordinated community effort delivered more than 1,700 meals to children and families across Richland Parish in less than 24 hours, demonstrating what local leaders described as compassion in action.
The effort was organized by Cool Kids, Inc., a Christ-centered ministry focused on serving local youth and families, with support from volunteers, churches, businesses and civic organizations.
Planning for the initiative began at 3 p.m. one day, and by 1 p.m. the following day meals were already being distributed throughout Rayville, Mangham, Delhi, Start and Holly Ridge.
“This week has been truly inspiring, as we’ve been able to make a positive impact in our community, even when no one was watching,” said Deanna Harrison, who credited Jordan Hubbard, Michael Harrison Jr. and Jessie Johnson for their support and leadership. Harrison said the ministry is rooted in faith-based values and a commitment to service.
Special recognition was given to Tender Touch Nursery and M&M Behavioral Health Center, LLC, for distributing meals and ensuring resources reached families in Mangham and Delhi.
Organizers also thanked the Richland Parish Chamber of Commerce for coordinating outreach and partnerships, as well as Richland Parish Data Center and Meta for supporting youth-focused initiatives.
Additional support came from First Baptist Church of Rayville, which prepared hot meals, and Rayville Cafe, which provided additional meals as demand increased.
“In just 22 hours, this community showed what’s possible when compassion meets action,” said Jordan Hubbard, one of the organizers. “This is Richland Parish at its best.”
Organizers emphasized the success of the effort was driven by volunteers who stepped in quickly and gave their resources to meet a growing need across the parish.
