CASA seeks volunteers to help Richland Parish youth

CASA of Northeast Louisiana is calling on community members in Franklin, Richland, and West Carroll parishes to step forward as Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers in 2026 to help children in foster care due to abuse and neglect.

CASA volunteers serve as trained advocates for children involved in the foster care system, ensuring their needs, safety, and best interests are clearly represented in court. For many children, a CASA volunteer is the one consistent adult focused solely on their well-being and long-term outcomes.

Currently in these parishes there are 39 foster children waiting to be matched with a CASA volunteer. Without a CASA, a child may remain in the system longer than necessary, increasing the risk of emotional and developmental harm. CASA of Northeast Louisiana works to advocate for each child’s placement in a safe, healthy, and permanent home as quickly as possible.

“No child should navigate the foster care system alone,” said Erin Stokes, CASA Volunteer Recruiter. “CASA volunteers make a measurable difference by speaking up for children who cannot speak for themselves and helping move cases toward permanency.”

No prior experience is required to become a CASA volunteer. Volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from CASA’s professional staff. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life and share a commitment to improving outcomes for children in their own communities.

The children currently waiting in the Franklin, Richland, and West Carroll areas need local advocates who are willing to stand up for their futures.

Community members interested in learning more or beginning the application process are encouraged to contact volunteer@ standforhope.org.

CASA of Northeast Louisiana invites residents to take the first step and make 2026 the year they make a lasting difference— both in their community and in the life of a child.

CASA of Northeast Louisiana recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in foster care, helping ensure they achieve safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
