Saints Alive host meeting

Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, held its monthly meeting on Jan. 5.

This month’s gathering opened with prayer led by Liz Allen. Prayer requests were received, followed by prayer offered by Rick Cooper. January birthday honorees were recognized, and first-time visitors were welcomed.

It was announced that $876 was raised during the annual auction last month, with half of the proceeds used to assist a family in need.

The menu included chili with cheese, Fritos, crackers and Mexican cornbread, along with a display of desserts.

Entertainment was provided by Alan McVay, who sang with the Liberty Boys for many years. McVay played piano and guitar and performed a selection of gospel songs and hymns. His performance was well received by those in attendance.

Saints Alive meets from October through May. Anyone age 55 or older is invited to attend. There are no dues for the calendar year.

Meetings feature meals, Christian entertainment and fellowship.

The next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 6. The meal will be potluck. Entertainment will feature Wayne Smart and Johnny Mac Townsend.
