Ministry gathers for fellowship, auction
Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, held its monthly meeting Dec. 1.
The gathering was opened by Liz Allen.
Prayer requests were received, and prayer was then offered by Fred Lambert. December birthday honorees were congratulated, and first-time visitors were acknowledged.
A few minutes were spent honoring the memory of Clara Cromwell and Delores “Dee” Belcher, who passed away recently. Both contributed greatly to Saints Alive and will be missed. Special attention was given to the beautiful placemats made by Clara last year and used as centerpieces on the tables.
The theme was, of course, Christmas, and the decor was bright and merry. Attendees brought their favorite holiday finger foods and desserts.
The traditional special event of the December meeting is an auction. Attendees brought an eclectic selection of items, some of them edible, for bidding. Tim Allen served as auctioneer, and $876 was raised for a needy family.
Saints Alive meets October through May. Anyone 55 or older is invited to join. There are no dues this year. Meetings feature delicious meals, Christian entertainment and ministry, and delightful fellowship. Visitors are welcome.
The next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 5. The meal will be provided and will feature chili with cheese, Fritos, crackers and Mexican cornbread. Attendees are asked to bring desserts.
