Delhi alderman charged with domestic abuse battery

A Delhi alderman was arrested Friday following an incident at his home.

Delhi Police Chief Roy Williams said that Delhi Police Department officers were dispatched  on Aug. 16 to a 911 call at 247 Main St.  in reference to a disturbance.  

After interviewing both subjects at the residence, Delhi Police Department officers arrested Larry Houston, 247 Main St., Delhi.

Houston, who is a town alderman, was charged with domestic abuse battery.

Williams said Houston was then transported to the Richland Parish Detention Center and booked pending bond.  

Delhi gets ready for the holidays

The Town of Delhi is making plans for the holidays.

Delhi Mayor Jesse Washington invites the public to attend a meeting of the Delhi Special Events Committee at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at Delhi Town Hall.

The meeting is being held to begin planning for the upcoming holiday season.

“If you would like to be a part of the committee, please come out and share your ideas,” Washington said. “Remember this is your community and we encourage you to get involved.”

Scouts host kickoffs for Richland schools

The Louisiana Purchase Council, Boy Scouts of America will host Join Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA School Night kickoffs in Richland Parish Aug. 29.

Parents or guardians and their sons and daughters are encouraged to attend the kickoffs to learn about all that Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA has to offer. Boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible to participate in Cub Scouts.

To join Scouts BSA, young men and ladies must be 11 years old or in the sixth grade.

Three arrested following alleged stabbing incident

Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the Richardson Medical Center during the early morning hours of Aug. 11 in regards to a stabbing.

 There deputies interviewed a female victim whom had been cut and stabbed multiply times.  It was learned from the victim, her alleged spouse, Tammie Parrish Guccione, was responsible for the wounds.  

Further investigation showed Guccione’s former spouse, James Parrish, had also choked Guccione earlier during another altercation.
