Barbara Jean Gowins White

Barbara was born February 29, 1928, to James L. Gowins Jr. and Lois Irene Burkett Gowins.

She was born in Richland Parish, Archibald, Louisiana, and lived most of her adult life in Mississippi. Barbara was married to the late James Robert White on May 13, 1948 in the Presbyterian Church. She was married almost fifty years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She passed away on August 18, 2018 at her sister’s home in Thibodaux, La with her family near.

She was retired after a 30 year career at Trust Mark Bank. She was a Past Matron of Eastern Star and was a dedicated member of Stichers Club at First Baptist Church Runnelstown, Miss.

She is survived by a brother, John Sidney Gowins and Margurite of Vidalia, LA and her sister, Marcia G. Gaubert and Glenn of Thibodaux. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, sister in law Bonnie Gowins and sister in law Margie White Roberts.

She is predeceased by her husband James Robert White, her parents, James L. Gowins Jr. and Lois Irene Burkett Gowins, and brother James Lester Gowins, Ill.

Funeral services were conducted at Jones and Son Funeral home, Hwy 42, Richton, Miss with burial in Buck Creek Memorial Cemetery on August 20, 2018.
