Postmaster enters world competition

Local postmaster Richard Cottrell will compete in ITU World Sprint Duathlon Championship in Pontevedra, Spain, this month.

Cottrell, qualified for the world competition as a member of Team USA at USA Triathlon’s Duathlon Championship in Greenville, S.C.  

He has been riding his bicycles and running on the roads in Northeast Louisiana for many years.  He is the current postmaster in Rayville, Start and Archibald.

  The International Triathlons Union Sprint Duathlon includes a 5K run, 20K bike, & 2.5 K run.  

Delhi win cleanest city contest

The Town of Delhi has been named as the District 5 Cleanest City Contest winner by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation following a visit to the town by the official judges last Thursday.. The town will now go on to compete for the state Cleanest City honor in April. Delhi Garden Club President Eva Dawson said the victory wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the people of Delhi, Mayor Jesse Washington and his staff and public employees, Lamb-Weston, Hydro and other volunteers.

Traveling museum enlightens parish

The  Rayville Rosenwald/Eula D  Britton Alumni Association hosted Dr. Uma Bey and the Traveling Black Invention Museum of Baton Rouge during February as part of Black History month.

The exhibition was available to Rayville  High and  Junior High school students along with the community Feb. 15-16. The traveling museum is a rare collection  of artifacts  by African-American  inventors and has been enjoyed by millions around the world.

Rhymes society to celebrate 30 years

The executive committee, board of trustees and staff of the Original Rhymer Library Restoration Socity proudly announce a celebration to be held  at 3 p.m. May 19 in the Rhymes Memorial Building following the organization’s annual meeting honoring the 30th Anniversary of the organizing of the Original Richland Library Restoration Society.
