The Rayville Kiwanis Club installed new officers for the 2019-2020 term Tuesday at a luncheon meeting at Big Johns Restaurant.

John Hoychick Jr. of Cotton, Bolton, Hoychick & Doughty installed Reed Trisler as President. Trisler is employed by Citizens Progressive Bank. Trisler was also awarded the Kiwanian of the Year Award for significant contributions to the club and community.

Deille Hicks was installed as president elect/vice president. Hicks works at the Rhymes Memorial library.

Richland Parish voters went to the polls Saturday, re-electing numerous local officials and helping to send the governor’s race into a runoff.

Incumbent Sheriff Gary Gilley was re-elected by a 77.77 percent margin Saturday night with 6,017 votes. Perry Fleming had 22.23 percent with 1,720 votes.

In the race for Clerk of Court, Stacie Williamson was also re-elected by 61.15 percent with 4,406 votes while Wayne Chapman had 38.85 percent with 2,799.

United States Attorney David C. Joseph announced Ronald W. Reeves, 68, of Delhi,was sentenced Oct. 2 by U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty to serve 41 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release for mail fraud involving his role in a scheme to steal nearly $400,000. 

Judge Doughty also ordered Reeves to pay $86,239.16 in restitution, representing losses to several victims, including the Internal Revenue Service.
