Rayville PD recovers items taken in burglary

Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson advised Investigator Jerry Davis and Tim Colvin made an arrest for a house burglary on Aug. 29.

The burglary was reported around 3 p.m. Aug. 5. The items taken were two blue and black game chairs, a Samsung sound bar, an Epson projector, a Pioneer plasma TV and a Samsung speaker among other items.

Chief Robinson advised his officers arrested Kevin Williams for this burglary. Williams was booked and transported to Richland Parish Detention Center.

Thompson chairs dairy stabilization study commission

During the 2018 Regular Legislative Session, the legislature approved Senate Bill 560 by State Senator Beth Mizell to create the Dairy Stabilization Study Commission. SB 560, now Act 611, is an effort to ensure adequate supplies of milk and dairy products, protect consumers against excessive prices, and bolster the industry for Louisiana’s dairy farmers.

Investigation leads to narcotics arrest

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following a recent investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics in the parish.

Deputies arrested Daniel L. Mock, 36, on an outstanding RPSO warrant charging him with four counts of distribution of crack cocaine.  

Mock was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center where he is being held on a $400,000 bond.

Local field day set for cattle producers

A wide range of topics involving cattle will be presented at the LSU AgCenter northeast Louisiana beef and forage field day on Sept. 20 at the Goldmine Plantation in Richland Parish.

The event starts at 9 a.m. with registration at 8:30 a.m. A lunch will be provided.

The agenda includes presentations on:

• Selection and management of clovers.

•  Safe deworming and vaccination practices for bred cows.

• Managing nutrition in fall transition.

• Pasture weed control.

• Marketing strategies for beef cattle.

• A hay baler display.
