Richland Chamber pursues jobs training

The Richland Chamber of Commerce is collaborating with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and the town of Bastrop in a joint workforce development effort known as North Louisiana Ready2Work. 

The project is based on WorkKeys training, which is a high school competency test administered by ACT, with the goal to identify students who may not be on a four year university education, but who could have significant employment opportunities right here at home. 

Sheriff’s office arrests multi-state burglary ring

Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigators were called to investigate a theft complaint Jan. 15 at the Dunn Baptist Church involving a boxed type utility trailer.  

While conducting the investigation, RPSO learned of several camp burglaries in Madison Parish.  Investigators working with the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office and Warren County Mississippi Sheriff’s Office were able to make two arrests in connection with the burglaries.

Wreaths Across America grows with your help

As we are now in the slow-down period of Wreaths Across America fund raising, the ORLRS/Rhymes Library Board and WAA Coordinator wants to thank you all for the unwavering commitment to the mission and work of WAA. 

No matter the number of wreaths purchased and laid on gravesites of veterans all across Northeast Louisiana, the mission message of Remember, Honor and Teach is being shared in communities all across the area, and that is the real goal for us as Americans to honor veterans who served with honor and courage.

Arrests made in Oak Grove shooting

Three Oak Grove men have been charged with murder and attempted murder.

Two teens from Oak Grove met a group of individuals at the Oak Grove Rodeo Arena for an unknown reason at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 20.   During this interaction with the suspects, 17-year-old Chandler C. Erskine of Oak Grove and another teenager were shot.  Erskine was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other teenager was airlifted to a local hospital in serious condition.
