Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of May 6-12.

• Shameka Haynes, 29, 909 Old Alto Road, Rayville; criminal mischief.

• One juvenile was charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 25 traffic citations this week. That number includes 17 for speeding, three for careless operation and one each for no proof of insurance, failure to secure registration, expired plates, expired tags and running a red light.

4 by Grace entertains Saints Alive

Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, held its monthly meeting April 24. 

Saints Alive meets during the months of September through May. Anyone 50 or over is invited to join. Membership dues are $10 per person for the year. We have delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit, and then if you would like to join you are most welcome.

This month’s gathering was held at the Baptist Encampment on Highway 15. The meeting was opened by our president, Judy Slayter.

Haley Salsbury

Haley Salsbury successfully won the state titles in the 3200 race, 1600 race and 800 MM race May 4 at the 3AAA State Meet in at Jackson Prep in Jackson, Miss. She placed first overall in all three races over all other divisions. This summer she will continue to work hard and run with the Ultimate Performance Track club out of Monroe and will attend the AAU Junior Olympics Meet in Greensboro, N.C. in August. DCS 4x400 Relay team

J’quan Polly, Kolton Kelley, Donovan Wells and Jeffrey Williams took third place in the 4x400 meter relay with a new school record of 3:29.17.

DCS medals at state track meet

The Delhi Charter School Track team brought home eight Medals and broke nine school records May 3 at the LHSAA State Track Meet held at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the campus of LSU.
DCS Seniors to medal were:
• Chester McDaniel, third place, long jump;
• Anna Beth Raley, third place, 800 meter run (with a new school record of 2:26.08);
• Destiny Hargrove, third place, 200 meter dash (with a new school record of 26.01) and fifth in the 100 meters;

Tiger Rock students give back to community

Students and staff from Stephenson’s Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Rayville and Winnsboro participated in walking the dogs at Patrick’s Pals Animal Rescue of Winnsboro April 27.

Tiger Rock takes pride in participating in local activities and organizations that contribute back into the community and appreciates any opportunity that arises to give back.

They view community outreach as an important aspect of being a leader and overall good citizen.
