Salsbury up for three Louisiana track titles

Riverfield Academy’s, Haley Salsbury will compete for three state championship titles this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Prep Academy. 

Salsbury has won the 800/1600/3200 MM races for the MAIS District 3A. She has also won the MAIS South State 3AAA championship at Silliman Institute this past week in Clinton. Salsbury is currently ranked number one in all three events in the MAIS Overall for the 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A Districts.

Scott scholarship awards program slated May 4

May 4 is the day. Tallulah-Madison Community Center, 800 N. Beech St. in Tallulah, is the place.

 For supporters of the Rev. John H. Scott Memorial Fund, this comes as a reminder, and it is information for all regarding this annual event, the awarding of scholarships. Since 1982, the first Saturday in May has been a special day for northeast Louisiana college-bound high school seniors to be honored with awards of supplemental financial aid. 

Sock moccasin event planned at Poverty Point

Take a pair of tube socks and use them to make your own moccasins from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. May 4 under the picnic pavilion at Poverty Point World Historic Site.

This program is for children age 6-12 years of age. The socks and trim will be supplied, and you supply the creative ideas – choose the colors to go on your moccasins or put ribbons on them. Take advantage of this family day at Poverty Point World Heritage Site and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while visiting the site.
