Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of June 4-10.

• Dylan Grimm, 24; 1243 Hwy. 867, Winnsboro; no driver’s license.

• Jacob Fitt, 24; 188 Humphries Road, Winnsboro; failure to appear on greater less than $300, two counts of failure to appear on driving under suspension, failure to appear on no proof of insurance, four counts of failure to appear on speeding, failure to appear on theft greater than $300 less than $500 and no proof of insurance.

Parish schools provide free summer meals

The Richland Parish School Board  is participating in the Summer Food Service Program.

Meals will be provided to all eligible children without charge. Acceptance and participating requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. 

Meals will be provided at Delhi and Rayville high schools.

Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of May 27 through June 3.

• Marchella Mack, 25; 208 Dacron Street, Rayville; shoplifting.

• Emmanuel Johnson, 25; 810 N. Walnut St., Tallulah; battery on a dating partner and unauthorized use of a movable.

• Christopher Williams, 34; 402 Scott Street, Rayville; shoplifting.

• Joshua Stanley, 36; 1882 Burns Road, Rayville; driving under suspension and improper backing with an accident.

Yelverton graduates school for science, arts

Ariana Yelverton of Rayville was among 112 seniors who comprised the 34th graduating class of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts.

They participated in their commencement ceremony  May 19, in Prather Coliseum located on the campus of Northwestern State University.

Julian Hunter of Lafayette presented “What Makes This Place Special” for the senior address.

Hannah Rice of Mandeville sang the national anthem, Kerry Doyle of Eros led the Pledge of Allegiance and Kathy Barrios of Houma led the singing of the Alma Mater.

Gilbert earns business degree from Nicholls

Corey Thomas Gilbert of Start graduated May 19 at Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux.

Gilbert earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the college of business administration.

Traveling to see Gilbert graduate were his parents, Ronnie and Teresa Gilbert of Winnsboro, James Oliver of Holly Ridge, Sevanna Oliver of Rayville, Rhonda Wilkes of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kenneth Gilbert, Alex Gilbert and Atticus Gilbert of Sulphur and Melva Gilbert of Start.
