Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of May 26 through June 7.

• Shane Martin, 31; 2105 Canal St., Violet; no driver’s license.

• Jessica Henson, 24; 1887 Hwy 139, Rayville; driving under suspension and no license plate.

• Casi Blaylock, 41, 138 Bogzack St., Epps; disturbing the peace by simple drunk.

• One juvenile was charged with simple battery.

Smith earns college honors

Mary Katherine Smith of Mangham has been named to the President’s Honor List for the spring 2019 semester at McNeese State University.

To be on the President’s Honor List, an undergraduate student must earn at least a 3.5 GPA or better while carrying at least 15 semester hours. A senior eligible for graduation but carrying less than 15 hours is also eligible provided that student was on the President’s Honor List the previous semester.

Louisiana Delta names honor students

Louisiana Delta Community College has announced the Spring 2019 students who excelled to meet the requirements of the honor’s and chancellor’s lista. 

The honors’ list recognizes those students who have a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.74. 

The chancellor’s list recognizes those students who have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher. Students must have completed twelve hours of course work at LDCC and be classified as a full-time student.

D.A.R.E. banquet

Richland Parish deputies Frank Jones and Neal Harwell, Sheriff Gary Gilley, Delhi Mayor Jesse Washington and Rayville Mayor Harry Lewis and mingle with D.A.R.E. essay contest winners from throughout the parish.

RPSO hosts D.A.R.E. banquet

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office hosted a D.A.R.E. essay banquet May 23 at the Rayville Civic Center to honor parish D.A.R.E. essay winners.  

The winners from each school, along with their guests, were treated to a meal and a speech by guest winner, Dray Bonney.  Bonney spoke about his troubled childhood and how he was able to turn his life around.

• Kayla Mack, 19; 104 Franklin St.t, Rayville; harassment.

• David Smith, 29; 11770 Kiwi Drive, Mer Rouge; criminal mischief.
