The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Nov. 4-10.

• Makayla Mann, 25, 3576 Hwy 15, Rayville, driving under suspension.

• Colton Watson, 28, 22991 FM4, Lipan, Texas; two counts of possession of Schedule II, possession of Schedule I, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to dim light (oncoming traffic).

• Terry Bishop, 41, 206 Ray St., Rayville; displaying a firearm.

• One juvenile was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

Rayville author publishes new children’s book

The Special Tree is an enchanting children’s story about a little boy who learns the importance of Christ’s birth that impacted the practice of symbolism in celebrating Christmas.

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Rayville native Jackie Dulaney Smith’s new book magnifies God’s wisdom-filled plan for mankind’s salvation that culminated with the birth of Jesus Christ, which paved a path for humanity to enjoy his love and grace by celebrating the Yuletide season.

Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Oct. 27 through Nov. 3.

• Kelly Briggs, 35, 113 Meadowlark St., Rayville; running a stop sign, resisting by flight, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to appear on driving under suspension and distribution of cocaine.

• Two juveniles were arrested this week. One was charged with simple battery and one with accessory to armed robbery.

SAFER Task Force discusses domestic violence

The Wellspring hosted a Stop Abusive Family Environments Rural Task Force Oct. 9 at Louisiana Delta Community College in Winnsboro. 

The SAFER Task Force oversees and coordinates the community response to domestic violence and related violence. Guest speaker Amanda Brunson, director of Women’s Policy at Office of Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, spoke about community connectedness. She discussed the correlation between community connectedness and the decrease of violence.

• Amanda Valentine, 30; 11632 Big Sky Circle, Thonotosso, Fla.; criminal mischief and simple escape.

• Adrian Reyes, 29; 11632 Big Sky Circle, Thonotosso, Fla.; no driver’s license and criminal mischief.

• Roderick Williams, 41; 409 Linda St., Rayville; disturbing the peace (general).
