The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Feb. 16-23.

• Johnny Henson, 71; 411 Madeline St., Apt 201, Rayville; battery on a police officer, disobedience to a police officer and disturbing the peace by profanity.

• Taleria Cowart, 20; 610 Foster St., Rayville; shoplifting (first 0ffense).

• Felicia Jones, 40; 1125 Fragala St., Rayville; drivmg under suspension, careless operation and failure to secure license and registration.

• Michael Keys, 25, 104 Elm St., Rayville; cruelty to animals.

• Patricia Garceau-Anderson, 55, 414 College St., Shreveport; driving under suspension.

Cooking demo planned

Poverty Point World Heritage Site will host a pre-historic cooking demonstration, featuring the earth oven method of cooking, at 11 a.m. Feb. 29. 

The program offers a unique look at prehistoric cooking with an earth oven, showing how the Poverty Point people, more than 3,000 years ago, used earthen cooking balls and specially dug pits to cook their food.

Poverty Point World Heritage Site offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience and learn about the earthworks and those individuals who raised them from the ground between the years of 1700 and 1100 BC.

• Matthew Chaney, 29; 1522 Hwy 134, Rayville; driving under suspension.

• Brittany Triplett, 29; 1426 Cedar St., West Monroe; driving under suspension, speeding and no proof of insurance.

• Alyssa Reed, 21; 32 Plum Tree Drive, Rayville; simple assault and disturbing the peace (general).

• Randy Hunter, 44; 120 Huntington Drive, Monroe; disturbing the peace (general).

Operation Round-Up deadline slated for Feb. 28

Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative has a program which offers grants to nonprofit organizations within NELPCO’s service area.

Local nonprofits are invited to submit applications for grants through NELPCO’s Operation Round Up. The deadline for the current grant cycle is 4:45 p.m. Feb. 28.

NELPCO launched Operation Round Up in 2016 with the purpose of having a positive impact on the community it serves.
