Crew Lake Methodist women exchange plants

Crew Lake Methodist Women held their fifth annual plant swap May 2.

Emma Joe Sullivan blessed the food which was a little different. The meal consisted of salads and deserts, assorted crackers and beverages.

After the meal, the business began.

A devotional was given by Dianne Williams. It was titled Are You Sowing Scripture’s Seed and based on a reading from Corinthians 3:5-10.

Old and new business was discussed. The minutes were read by Lillian Whitten.

DCS heads to state track meet

The Dellhi Charter School boys and girls track teams qualified 22 athletes out of the District 2-2A track meet and 15 of those qualified from Regon 1-2A to compete May 23 at Bernie Moore Track at LSU.

District champion individual events include: Ashari Jones in discus and shot put, Destiny Hargrove in the 100M, Anna Beth Raley in the 800M, J’Quan Polly in long jump, Terry David in pole vault and  Kolton Kelley in the 400 and 800 meters.

Salsbury up for three Louisiana track titles

Riverfield Academy’s, Haley Salsbury will compete for three state championship titles this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Prep Academy. 

Salsbury has won the 800/1600/3200 MM races for the MAIS District 3A. She has also won the MAIS South State 3AAA championship at Silliman Institute this past week in Clinton. Salsbury is currently ranked number one in all three events in the MAIS Overall for the 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A Districts.

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of April 22-28.

• Gregory Gipson, 26; 500 Spruce St., Rayville; battery of a dating partner.

• Jamar Warren, 33; 120 Laverde Drive, West Monroe; discharging a firearm. 

• Quindrick Shaw, 31; 9611 Custer Road, Apt. 2118, Plano; careless operation.

• Shareata Carter, 28; 107 Parkwest Drive, West Monroe; disturbing the peace by loud music.

Scott scholarship awards program slated May 4

May 4 is the day. Tallulah-Madison Community Center, 800 N. Beech St. in Tallulah, is the place.

 For supporters of the Rev. John H. Scott Memorial Fund, this comes as a reminder, and it is information for all regarding this annual event, the awarding of scholarships. Since 1982, the first Saturday in May has been a special day for northeast Louisiana college-bound high school seniors to be honored with awards of supplemental financial aid.
