Boeuf River, NSDAR, met Monday, Jan. 21 in the home of Gayle Waller with Jodie Waller as co-hostess.

Nine members present enjoyed delicious refreshments prior to the business meeting. This is the program where we report on all the projects of the year. One of the special ones was the Wreaths Across America. Veterans and patriotism are the special focus of this group. We all enjoy privileges in this country thanks to all who serve in the military.

Regent  Angela Hales called the group to order and led the DAR ritual. Committees gave information to send to headquarters.

Saints Alive celebrate Mardi Gras

Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, held its monthly meeting Jan. 28. 

Saints Alive meets during the months of September through May. Anyone 50 or older is invited to join. Membership dues are $10 per person for the year. We have delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit, and then if you would like to join you are most welcome. 

DCS robotics team wins state excellence award

Delhi Charter students Ethan Morris, Kyle Peters and Wyatt Wiggins won the Excellence Award  Feb. 23 at the Louisiana VRC State Championship.  

The Excellence Award is given to the overall top team. It is the highest honor given out in the VEX Robotics Competition. The recipient of this award is a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program. 

DCS robotics teams head to state

The Delhi Charter School junior robotics teams earned top awards  Feb. 18 at the Louisiana State VEX IQ Championship.

DCS team HUB 41, helmed by Nate Kirkland, Brett Carter, Talmadge Parker, Kaden Sauseda and Ashton Harrell, won the Middle School Excellence Award, which is the top award of the championship, as well as Tournament Finalists.

DCS team Beauties and the Beast, led by Jenny Wright, Lisa Wright, Shelby Jeffers, Harley Jinks and Abbie Houston, won the Design Award for best design process.  

DCS track teams earn $10,000 prize for school

The Delhi Charter boys and girls track team  won the Grand Prize from Powerade (Power Your School) for a video they submitted showing their needs for track equipment. 

DCS is in the process of building a track for the physical education classes which will also be used by the track team. The video had to be approximately two minutes long and show the needs for why the money would be used. Students from the DCS track team, with the help of Tonya Gwin, worked very hard to come up with just the right touch of comedy and track workouts to achieve the $10,000 prize.
