The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Feb. 4-11.

• Quentin Rucker, 403 Dacron St., Rayville; trespassing, sexual battery and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwellling.

• Elizabeth Veuleman, 39, 4903 Yarbrough Road, Bastrop; shoplifting.

• Tabitha Logan, 48, 132 B South Circle Drive, Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

• Susan Williams, 55, 418 Cotton St., Rayville; improper telephone usuage.

• Rosemary Templeton, 54, 304 Hayes; allowing an unlicensed driver to drive and no insurance.

• Destiny Standifer, 111 Naylor St., Rayville; driving under suspension.

• Chelsea Williams, 27, 311 Dacron St., Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

• Shametris Richardson, 26, 305 Earline St., Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

• Richardo Brock, 37, 6305 Hwy 71, P.O. Box 932, Coushatta; disturbing the peace by fighting.

• Shanda Myers, 38, 257 Glenda St., Rayville; disturbing the peace (general) and simple battery.

• Eric Wilhite, 40, 101 Lighthouse Road, Sterlington; careless operation.

• Tammy Jackson, 42, 134 A North Circle Drive, Rayville; improper supervision of a minor.

• Latosha Thompson, 40, 518 Hill Road, Rayville; improper supervision of a minor.

• Devin Mays, 21, 181 George Ross Road, Winnsboro; indecent exposure.

• Anthony Ausberry, 31, 114 North Circle Drive, Rayville; simple batter and disturbing the peace (general).

• Five juveniles were arrested this week. Two were charged with curfew violation, one with no driver’s license, one with harassment and simple battery and one with simple battery and disturbing the peace (general).

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 14 traffic citations this week. That number includes six for speeding, three for running a stop sign, two for careless operation and one each for no seatbelt, expired MVI and failure to yield with an accident.

Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to remind motorists of the important of obeying all traffic signs and signals.

“Posted speed limit signs, stop signs, yield signs and other traffic signs are there for the safety of all vehicles on the road,” the chief said. “Wen you fail to obey posted traffic signs, you put yourself and other driver in danger.”

Chief Robinson stated his officers are constantly alert for traffic violations.

He also states he will not tolerate fighting in the Town of Rayville from anyone. To avoid any altercation with others that would cause you to get arrested for disturbing the peace, it’s best to walk away. Otherwise, it will cost you. You must thin positive. It is imperative that we work together to keep negative gestures from becoming a part of our life. Chief Robinson would like to remind you that physical violence in not an effective problem-solving solution.

“If you feel that an altercation is about to take place, contact the police department before any violence occurs,” he said.

The chief commented that if you surround yourself with positive people and positive influences, then positive things will happen in your life.

“You can change a lot of the negatives in your mind and in your life simply by removing negative influences around you,” the chief said.
