Pioneer woman loses life in single-vehicle accident

A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Pioneer woman.

Shortly after 8:40 a.m. Nov. 25, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 20, just west of Rayville.

The initial investigation revealed a 2007 Kia Sorrento, driven by 50-year-old Regina Watson, was traveling west on Interstate 20.  For reasons still under investigation, Watson’s vehicle veered into the median.

Watson overcorrected her steering which caused the vehicle to travel back across both westbound travel lanes where it began to overturn.

Watson, who was wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.  The crash remains under investigation.

In 2019, Troop F has investigated 34 fatal crashes resulting in 39 deaths.
