Boeuf River honors memory of two longtime members

Boeuf River Chapter, NSDAR, met Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Rhymes Memorial Library.

Hostess was Mary Pruitt.

Members enjoyed delicious refreshments during the social period.

Regent Angela Hales called the meeting to order and led the DAR ritual. The President General’s Message was read by Jodie Waller. Minutes of the November meeting were read by Charlotte Sims and the treasurer’s report was read.

This was a memorial service for two very special members, Lennis Durrett Waite and Carolyn Richardson Whitman. These two were long time members and made great contributions to our meetings and the entire community. Each was well known and well loved by many in their churches and social activities. Those present had many memories to share and all agreed they will be missed in many ways by all their friends and neighbors. Both were great examples of a patriot and “a lovely Southern lady.”

Gayle Waller presided in the traditional service. DAR members hold when we lose one of our own. Scripture, candle lighting and prayer all were very fitting remembrances.

A business session followed.

The February meeting will be in the home of Angela Hales.

This was a special meeting.

All matters covered, the meeting was adjourned.

Charlotte E. Sims is the reporter for the Bouef River Chapter, NSDAR.
