4 by Grace entertains Saints Alive

Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, held its monthly meeting April 24.

Saints Alive meets during the months of September through May. Anyone 50 or over is invited to join. Membership dues are $10 per person for the year. We have delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit, and then if you would like to join you are most welcome.

This month’s gathering was held at the Baptist Encampment on Highway 15. The meeting was opened by our president, Judy Slayter.

There was another big attendance. The following visitors joined us: Betty Salisbury Caraway, Sharon Baum, Rita LaForge, Shirley Thompson, Sue and Donald Norman, Maxine Hill and Ellen Emfinger.

Prayer requests were received, and then Pastor Mike Jackson led in prayer. The visitors and birthday honorees for April were recognized. Everyone joined to sing Happy Birthday to those turning one year younger.

The weather was beautiful and perfect for eating outdoors in the covered dining area. The menu was fried catfish with fries, cole slaw and hush puppies. There was also cheesecake for dessert.

The entertainment of the evening was a concert by 4 by Grace. Members present were Rayland Trisler, Jerome Vascocu, Rickey Cooper and Mike Sullivan. They were accompanied on the piano by the wonderful Jamie Harrell. The group sang many old standards which were particularly enjoyed by the those in attendance.

The meeting for May is scheduled for Monday, the 20th, in the gym at the First Baptist Church. It will be a hamburger supper with all the trimmings. This will be the final gathering for the season. Saints Alive will reconvene in September.

In the meantime, we wish everyone a wonderful summer break.
