Richland Parish football teams open play

The Delhi Bears topped the host Mangham Dragons football team 44-27 in Friday’s season opener.

With the win, the Bears start their season at 1-0 as they travel to Vidalia this Friday to take on the Vikings. The Vikings are also 1-0 after defeating Sicily Island 34-7.

Mangham starts the season at 0-1 as the Dragons prepare to host St. Frederick Sept. 7. 

The Warriors are coming into the outing with a record of 1-0 after a 30-7 win against D’Arbonne Woods.

Meanwhile, the Rayville Hornets fell 45-6 to the Franklin Parish Patriots this week in their season opener.

The Hornets are lined up to play the Jena Giants Sept. 7. The Giants are 1-0 after their 48-22  win over Winnfield.

Delhi Charter School also lost their season opener, falling 49-0 to the Oak Grove Tigers. The Gators will host Madison at 7 p.m. Sept. 7.
